TorQuest invested in this North American manufacturer and distributor of rock salt products because of its strong management team, market leadership, track record of solid performance and growth prospects. We acquired Kissner in November 2013 and recapitalized the balance sheet in May 2014, allowing the company to repurchase the equity of a large shareholder, pre-fund significant capital expenditures and provide a dividend to remaining shareholders. During TorQuest’s ownership, Kissner expanded production by 25 per cent and identified a variety of growth opportunities. TorQuest and its co-investors sold their interest in the company to Metalmark Capital and Silvertee (an existing investor) in May 2015.
