Jay Galbraith joined TorQuest in 2018 and is responsible for overseeing all legal and regulatory affairs at the firm. In this role, Mr. Galbraith has a particular focus on investment transactions, fundraising and firmwide environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, while also being responsible for TorQuest’s regulatory compliance program. 

Prior to joining TorQuest, Mr. Galbraith was investment counsel at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he worked principally with the fund’s private equity arm; a partner at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg in Toronto, in the M&A practice group; and a private equity attorney at Latham & Watkins in New York. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Cambridge Forum on Private Equity M&A, an annual forum for leading practitioners active in private equity transactions.

Mr. Galbraith holds an M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Management, a J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and a B.A. (summa cum laude) from York University. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Ontario.
